As part of ongoing safety and operational readiness efforts, a fire safety drill was conducted earlier this year to strengthen emergency response awareness and reinforce workplace safety procedures.
The exercise provided an opportunity for teams to practise evacuation protocols, familiarise themselves with fire safety equipment, and review emergency coordination procedures under simulated conditions.
Supporting compliance and safety readiness
Regular fire drills form an important part of workplace safety planning and help organisations maintain preparedness in line with occupational safety and health expectations in Malaysia.
Employers have a duty to ensure safe working environments under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA), including maintaining emergency response procedures and ensuring employees understand how to respond during incidents.
In addition to evacuation procedures, emergency preparedness also includes:
- access to fire safety equipment and training
- clear emergency communication processes
- proper first aid readiness and response planning.
Building practical readiness through training
During the drill, participants were guided through practical steps including fire extinguisher handling, evacuation coordination, and emergency response roles. Such exercises help translate written procedures into real-world action, ensuring teams are prepared to respond confidently if required.
Looking ahead
Safety preparedness remains an ongoing priority. Regular drills and continuous safety awareness initiatives help organisations strengthen resilience while supporting responsible workplace management.
